Netspeak Games Announce $12m Series A led by Lakestar
We’re excited to share that our portfolio company Netspeak Games announced their $12m Series A today. Netspeak will use the fresh capital to rapidly expand its team and grow at an accelerated rate, filling key positions within the company in order to bring its first game, ‘Sunshine Days’ to market.
Our portfolio company Netspeak Games announced it raised $12m in a Series A round led by Lakestar and Project A. Led by Lakestar and Project A, the round also saw participation from Makers Fund and notable industry personalities including Hilmar Veigar Pétursson (CCP Games), Phil Mansell (Jagex), and Catherine Chew (Kepler Interactive).
Netspeak Games is a remote-first studio building a culture that celebrates diversity, inclusion, and community whilst encouraging creativity and fun. Its first title Sunshine Days is currently in early access on Google Play and iOS, and will grow into a shared, collaborative wholesome experience where working hard to care for each other brings great rewards.
"Netspeak Games has taken a totally different approach to the type of games it is building and the internal culture they have created to build them.
I’m happy to be backing a team that is leading the way in a games market that can use some diversity."
It is already building a stellar team of veterans and rising stars from within the games industry and beyond. The studio has brought together brilliant talent with former experience at companies like Sony, EA, Rockstar, Payload Studios, Lockwood Publishing, SEGA Europe, and King, as well as from further afield, having recently recruited talent from Palantir and Microsoft.
Netspeak Games are hiring. A list of specific open positions can be found here. But the studio firmly believes that great talent doesn’t always neatly fit a job spec; so they warmly welcome speculative enquiries from anyone looking to find a role in games. All Netspeakers are offered remote work as standard, unlimited holiday, enhanced pay structures for maternity, paternity, and secondary carers as well as independent learning days.
